  1. Carol Mader - Journalism for Kids – Jumping into other genres. Use a variety of formats to begin or advance your writing career. Explore publishing for newspapers, curriculum, and more.
  2. Liza Pulitzer-Voges - Which Comes First: Editor Or Agent? – In the complex world of children's publishing, which comes first; thoughts on my philosophy.
  3. CLOSED Marilyn Edwards - S.O.S. - Stand Out Stories – Find out what kind of nonfiction stories and other types of articles are of interest to an editor. Hear examples of nonfiction articles and learn why they are favorites.
  4. Dianne Hamilton - Nuts and Bolts – A step-by-step guide through the manuscript submission process. Entry level.
  5. Summer Laurie - Write and Publish! – A small, independent, West Coast publishing house editor's guidelines for how to submit your manuscript and what happens after that, from contract to bookshelf.
  6. Diane Z. Shore - "Picture Books: Serve 'Em Desserts!"™ – So what's for dessert? Serve up a rich text that invites thought and personalizing as it delights and informs readers and listeners.

*Chris Rumble - Illustration for Honest to Goodness Beginners – From concept to dummy to submission, to getting noticed by and working with an editor to produce a market-friendly book that is still uniquely yours.

  1. Jaïra Placide - Writing the Novel – We'll look at premise, voice, scene work, plot-driven vs. the character-driven novel to better understand the kind of novel you are writing.
  2. Liza Pulitzer-Voges - What Can an Agent Do For You? – Some insight on how agents work.
  3. Marilyn Edwards - The Fear Factor: Fearful of Another Rejection? – Discover what will keep your manuscript off the rejection pile and hear the best advice for finding a home for your article.
  4. Dianne Hamilton - A Big Frog in a Small Pond: Small Publishing Houses. – What a small press should do for a beginning writer and can do for an established author. Explore publishing far away from NYC.
  5. *Summer Laurie - Paint and Publish! – A small, independent, West Coast publishing house editor's guidelines for how to submit your artwork and what happens after that, from contract to bookshelf, including digital artwork.
  6. Diane Z. Shore - "Poets Don't Have to Starve!" – Come explore the WHY, WHAT, WHEN, WHERE, and the do's and don'ts of this genre. Glean ways to take ideas all the way to sales!

  4. Lee Wilson - Everything You Need to Know About Copyright But Were Afraid to Ask - What any creator needs to know about copyright and ideas: what copyright protects, guarding your copyrights, how to avoid infringement, how to protect unprotectable ideas.
  5. CLOSED Summer Laurie - The Picturebook: Our Bread and Butter. – A small, independent, West Coast publishing house editor offers some picturebook pointers: suitable story, suitable artwork, suitable format, suitable proposals, and all else suitable for discussion.
